From My Daughter

I've had this mug for about 5 years now. Every summer, my childless sister is brave enough to take my children to her house for a week. Actually, this year is the first time she took both of them together. At first it was only my daughter who would go. My sister always spoils my kids rotten. On one trip she took my daughter to Reno, Nevada. I've never even been to Reno! My daughter was a pre-teen at the time, but she made sure to bring back souveniors for all of us. What really touched my heart was instead of bringing me a T-shirt or keychain, she knew I would really want a coffee mug! It's so funny how we often think our kids aren't paying attention to what we do, say, or our likes or dislikes, but they do. This is a tea mug for me because it's standard size. I need GIANT mugs to accomodate my coffe consumption, but this one is cherished nonetheless.

The Crown Jewel of Mugs

Can you believe this mug? My co-worker was leaving for vacation and one of her stops was going to be "Dollywood." I had to ask her to get it. Dolly Parton in my mug collection would simply be my crowning jewel. But would they even have a coffee mug at Dollywood? I held my breath all week. When I came into the office on Monday morning there it was, waiting for me at my desk. What a way to drink Monday coffee! I couldn't leave her at work though. I brought Dolly home and introduced her to my other mugs. I hope the others don't feel neglected because Dolly is going to be my mug of choice for awhile!

Bargain Mug

Awhile back, they opened a small coffee stand inside Long's Drugstore. The coffee was from Seattle's Best, which is excellent! It was so convenient to be able to get my morning coffee or Friday latte right there in the store. The parking lot was huge, so you could always find a space. Also, it was never as crowded as Starbuck's. The ladies that worked there were always so sweet.

Recently, Long's Drugstore was bought out by CVS/Pharmacy. The first thing they did was close the coffee stand. I'm sure it had more to do with insurance and liability and stuff. The funny thing was, the last day, I was going in, everyone walking out was carrying a paper cup with some kind of drink in it. Maybe not the best business decision CVS!

As I placed my final order my favorite morning lady pulled out this mug from behind the counter, " I only have a couple of these left, if you'd like it. It's only a dollar." As you can see, I took her up on the offer. It's a great mug. I used just this morning. It holds ALOT of coffee!

It does make me a bit sad though. Sniff!

Unfortunately, he was unable to find one that was shaped like cowboy hat. The colors are beautiful and I christened it last night with some hot tea and honey.

Summer Mug

This is my favorite mug to use in the summertime. The strawberries look so sweet and refreshing. I hate hot weather, so in the summer I have to make sure I consume all of my coffee early. Once it heats up, I can no longer handle hot coffee. It's supoosed to be better for your body. When you have to drink something ice cold and you're hot, your body has to work twice as hard to acclimate the temperature. It makes sense, but it's not for me. I just put out a couple of croissants to rise overnight. Tomorrow morning, I'm going to pop those babies in the toaster oven and fill this mug with a nice cup of french press java. Yum!

He worked for the public transportation system and this was his work mug. My Dad passed away about twelve years ago. I miss him alot. He had a habit of labeling his belongings. Maybe from being in the Army. I don't know why he thought we'd use his mug! I keep this mug in my cabinet, so that I can see it on a regular basis. However, I never want to use it because I don't want his writing to wear away.

Mug Obession

I'm obsessed with mugs. I have tons of them and I collect them from everywhere. The funny thing is, I use them all! Each morning I wake up and depending on my mood or the season, I sift through and find the perfect one for my cup o' joe. I also have separate ones I use for tea. Those tend to be the normal sized mugs. I use GIANT ones for my coffee.

You can imagine how psyched I would be if I earned a PNN mug!

So, enjoy my mug collection. I will include a little background about each of them.

I have to run. My second cup of coffee is ready. French Press baby!
